Classes & TrainingHC Media’s New Membership Orientation class is the entry point to becoming part of an award-winning community-based organization, all while learning the fundamentals of media production. During Orientation, you will be introduced to the role of public access television in your community, take a tour of our studio, and be guided towards your next steps based on your personal interests.
Upon completion of the New Membership Orientation class, graduates will officially be granted the title of HC Media Member. Membership allows access to our production facilities and equipment for multi-media usage. HC Media Members who wish to bolster their technical and creative skills will also become eligible to register for our additional training courses.
This class is free and open to Haverhill residents who are at least 12 years of age. HC Media membership is also available for people associated with an educational institute or non-profit organization within Haverhill.

Our Introduction to Video Editing class is taught using the latest version of the industry standard video editing program Adobe Premiere Pro. Students will work hands-on with the instructor on a practice project as they are introduced to professional creative techniques, and take in the basics of the Adobe Premiere Pro program.

So you have an idea that would make a great movie but have no idea how to get started? Writing a screenplay is very different from writing a novel or short story, with unique structure rules. Sign up for this two night seminar presented by HC Media’s own Matt Belfiore.
Matt placed in the 2009 semifinals of the PAGE International Screenwriting Awards, and in the quarterfinals of the 2010 BlueCat Screenplay Competition with his original screenplay, “Alamo Records”. During this short course, you’ll learn about motion picture three act structure, character development, writing good dialogue, submitting query letters to agents and producers, what to do and not to do, and a whole plethora of screenwriting tips and tricks.

Love taking outdoor photos? Join us for an immersive photography workshop in downtown Haverhill with renowned professional travel photographer and adventurer Don Toothaker. This workshop will cover the basics like exposure, aperture and ISO, and Don will share tips and tricks on perspective and developing your creative eye while shooting in the field. Bring your own camera – phone cameras, DSLRs, digital and film are all welcome. This course is supported in part by a grant from the Haverhill Cultural Council, a local agency supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.

Looking to create a more professional-looking production in Adobe Premiere Pro? This two-night course is designed for HC Media members who want to develop and enhance their video editing skills. A working knowledge of Premiere is recommended for enrollees.
Our course instructor is Ed Felker. Ed has been a professional video editor for 25 years and has won three EMMY awards. He has worked as a freelance editor and a news photographer and got his start at HC Media in 1991. He likes long walks on the beach and misses S-VHS.
