Basic Class is intended to train and certify its students with the knowledge and ability to become independent, contributing video producers, on-air hosts or behind the scenes technical crew. In the Basic Class, you will learn about the role of public access television in your community and how to run a studio camera and work on shoots as technical crew and you’ll learn terminology to help you better understand the language of television production. Basic Class offers information on a variety of other topics and presents an opportunity for any novice or expert to learn something new.
Upon completion of the Basic Class, graduates will be given the title of Volunteer Member and granted access to the use of the facility and its equipment in the studio. Volunteers will also have the option to take the Basic Editing with Adobe Premiere classes and others more in-depth courses.

In Basic Editing with Adobe Premiere, you will learn how to take footage you’ve shot in studio or out on the field and compile it into a final video ready for viewing, as well as proper file management techniques for remaining organized. Basic Editing with Adobe Premiere students will be taught on the latest version of Adobe Premiere CC, one of the most powerful and sophisticated editing software available and in use by professional movie studios.
Upon completion of Basic Editing with Adobe Premiere, graduates will be able to make use of facility editing suites.

So you have an idea that would make a great movie but have no idea how to get started? Writing a screenplay is very different from writing a novel or short story, with unique structure rules. Sign up for this two night seminar presented by HC Media’s own Matt Belfiore.
Matt placed in the 2009 semifinals of the PAGE International Screenwriting Awards, and in the quarterfinals of the 2010 BlueCat Screenplay Competition with his original screenplay, “Alamo Records”. During this short course, you’ll learn about motion picture three act structure, character development, writing good dialogue, submitting query letters to agents and producers, what to do and not to do, and a whole plethora of screenwriting tips and tricks.

Looking to create a more professional-looking production in Adobe Premiere Pro? This two-night course is designed for HC Media members who want to develop and enhance their video editing skills. A working knowledge of Premiere is recommended for enrollees.
Our course instructor is Ed Felker. Ed has been a professional video editor for 25 years and has won three EMMY awards. He has worked as a freelance editor and a news photographer and got his start at HC Media in 1991. He likes long walks on the beach and misses S-VHS.
