HC Media has received a grant of $1,000 from the Haverhill Cultural Council through the Massachusetts Cultural Council (MCC), a state agency. This grant was awarded through the MCC’s Local Cultural Council Program and it will go to support the Christmas Bell Project in downtown Haverhill.
State grants are awarded through a competitive process. This grant signifies that HC Media has provided a valuable public service to the community, with the installation of the Bell each holiday season since 2015.
MCC has a budget of $15.7 million, including an appropriation of $14 million from the state of Massachusetts and grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and other sources. MCC also runs the Massachusetts Cultural Facilities Fund in partnership with MassDevelopment.
The mission of the Massachusetts Cultural Council is to promote excellence, education, access and diversity in the arts, humanities and sciences in order to improve the quality of life for all residents and to contribute to the economic vitality of our communities. The not-for-profit cultural industry has a $4.2 billion economic impact in the state.
